Claire

January 5th Update

Today was the last day I had the pleasure of watching over Claire. She is on her way to another foster home. Not because of anything she did wrong here. In fact, she didn't do anything wrong while being here that would of kept her from staying. I was just a temporary home until the other foster home was ready. Now that I had Claire for the week, I can tell you for certainty that who ever is lucky enough to adopt this sweet little girl won't be sorry. She is loving, fun, entertains herself playing alone or with a group. Her potty issue I spoke about on Day 3 Update(see below) appears to be just an adjustment to new food. She was fine these last couple days. She does seem to have to go out in the middle of the night, for now, but would out grow this stage as she gets a little older. I've included some pictures that were taken last night and this morning during our trip. By the way, speaking of trips, she rides excellent in the car. She'll curl up in the backseat or front and likes to look out the window.

OH! OH! I know what I was thinking about.(see below)
Be honest now. Can you really resist these beautiful dark brown eyes? You know you can't.
I've left my temporary foster home to go to another. PLEASE let me only have one more car ride. To your house we go!

Hi. I'm Claire. I was adopted then surrendered to a shelter and luckily Illinois Birddog Rescue came and got me. I'm going to be celebrating New Year's with a foster family of 4 other furkids. This should be one good party!

This side view of me really shows off my beauty, don't you think. I'm tall and slender with wonderful highlights of light reddish brown. I'm the perfect dog for your family.

Well I'm settled in as I'm going to be. I would much rather be at your house where I know I can hang my head forever. All I can say is that was one boring party! No hoopla here. Not even a treat to bring in the New Year.

As you can see, I get along with other dogs and stay at my own food. I'm a petite little girl, but this picture really makes me look a lot skinner than I am, but I could stand to gain about 8 pounds.

Claire came into Illinois Birddog Rescue today, Dec 31st 2007, and I have the pleasure of fostering her for a while. She is a real sweetie and doesn't appear to be afraid of anything. She has a lot of play in her. I'd guess she's around 11 months and no more than 14 mos. She likes to play outside, but doesn't hesitate to come in and lay down either. She doesn't have a problem with other dogs, since I have 4 for her to mingle with here. She does seem to prefer people food, but did finally eat her kibble late this evening. She could stand to add a few pounds, but not much.

January 3rd Update
Well, now that it's been a couple days. I can assure you that Claire is one sweet girl. She IS puppy and with that comes a lot of energy and play and searching out things to amuse herself with. She would be good with another younger dog or one with high energy rather than an older dog. Too much energy for the older ones. She likes squeaky toys and she loves to play tug-a-war with another dog. Like all dogs, if she sees something someone else has, she wants it. It's been really cold outside so all the dogs have had more "house" time than usual. Claire doesn't seem to mind that and sleeps along with the others, bidding time.

There are specific things I have noticed with her. They are;
1.)She doesn't like to be left alone from people, right now at least.

2.)She prefers to sleep on a doggie bed during the day than the floor. At night she sleeps in our bed with 2 other dogs with no problem sharing the space. I haven't crated her here because I'm home all day. She did have 2 accidents the last 2 nights, but it could just be her adjusting to new food.

3.)She has a good appetite for any food, dog or people, and does counter surfs including the sink. She likes people food and will search it out so leaving food on the counter wouldn't be a good idea.

4.)She likes to be outside and with that I don't believe she would hesitate to run out a door if not watched. You have to know where she is when you open any door other than the one to the backyard. At this time, I would recommend a fenced yard.

5.)She does bark outside when playing from sheer excitement.

6.)She does know the command "sit" and does comes when called.

7.)She would make a great family pet and give kids a run for their money in play time. She is young and would need training, but listens well and I don't think it would take much time for her to learn.

The biggest concern I would have right now is her eagerness to run out the door and it being the wrong door. She is fast on her feet and it would be difficult to catch her.

Here are some more pictures of Claire.

Here Claire is playing with another foster Bronson.

Claire enjoying ruff housing with the boys. Winn came from the same shelter with her today and Pooh, another foster waiting for a place to call home.

This makes me look bigger than I really am. I'm just a petite little girl. Cameras always makes a girl look bigger :o)
